Terms of Use

Effective date: September 29, 2026 · Version 1.2 · These terms cover the Motsy Chrome extension and the motsyapp.com website.

This is an English translation provided for convenience. The legally binding version is the Turkish original; in case of any inconsistency, the Turkish text prevails.

1. Parties and acceptance

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are the agreement between Mert Göktaş, who provides Motsy ("Motsy", "we"), and the person using Motsy ("you", "user"). By installing the extension, ticking the checkbox when creating an account, or using the service, you accept these Terms. The Privacy Policy and Privacy Notice is not part of this agreement; it is an information notice under Article 10 of the KVKK describing how your personal data is processed, and you confirm that you have read it when creating an account. If you do not accept the Terms, do not use Motsy.

The Terms were drafted in Turkish. Translations into other languages are provided for convenience; in case of any inconsistency, the Turkish text prevails.

2. Description of the service

Motsy is a browser extension for Google Chrome together with a connected dashboard. It adds dual subtitles — in your native language and in the language you are learning — to the videos you watch on Netflix and YouTube; shows the translation, contextual meaning, sentence structure and pronunciation examples of the words you click; saves words together with the sentence they appear in, an audio clip and a scene frame; and lets you review what you saved through quizzes, mosaics and statistics. Features may be added, changed or removed over time.

3. Relationship with Netflix and YouTube

• Motsy is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Netflix, YouTube or Google. Netflix and YouTube are trademarks of their respective owners.
• To use those platforms you need your own valid account and must comply with their terms of use. Motsy does not provide you with content; it only works on top of content you already have access to.
• When the platforms change their design or technical infrastructure, some Motsy features may stop working temporarily or permanently. We try to fix this within a reasonable time but cannot guarantee it.
• If subtitles for a piece of content are not available in your language pair, dual subtitles cannot be shown; Motsy does not generate subtitles, it uses the subtitles the platform provides.

4. Account and age requirement

• You must be at least 13 years old to use Motsy. If you are located in Türkiye and under 18, you may use Motsy only with the consent of your parent or guardian; in the European Union, the age limit set by the country you are in (13–16) applies. By creating an account you confirm that you meet this requirement.
• You must provide accurate and current information at sign-up and keep your password confidential. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account; if you notice unauthorised use, notify support@motsyapp.com immediately.
• A person may open an account only for their own use; accounts may not be transferred or shared.
• Your username and profile details may not infringe third-party rights (personality rights, trademarks, copyright).

5. Acceptable use

When using Motsy you may not:

• attempt to gain unauthorised access to the extension, our servers or other users' data, reverse engineer it, extract its source code, or circumvent security measures;
• exceed quotas and limits or overload the service using automated tools, scripts or multiple accounts;
• use, publish, distribute or commercially exploit the audio clips, scene frames and subtitle sentences you save for anything other than personal learning;
• use Motsy in a way that violates the terms of use or copyrights of Netflix or YouTube;
• use the AI features for purposes other than learning, or to produce harmful or unlawful content;
• use Motsy's name, logo or design without permission, or present Motsy as another product.

6. Content and intellectual property

• The Motsy software: The extension, dashboard, website, design, brand and code belong to Mert Göktaş. You are granted only a non-transferable, non-exclusive right of use for personal, non-commercial purposes.
• Your data: The words you save, your notes and your learning progress belong to you. You grant us the right to process this data only to the extent necessary to provide the service to you; the details are set out in the Privacy Notice.
• Third-party content: Subtitles, videos, audio clips and scene frames belong to Netflix, YouTube and the respective content owners. Motsy stores only short excerpts of this content, for your personal learning, in a form accessible only to you. No rights in these excerpts are transferred to you.
• Dictionary and pronunciation sources: Translation and pronunciation content is provided by third parties such as Google, Microsoft and YouGlish and is subject to their terms.
• Your feedback: We may use the suggestions, bug reports and ideas you send us to improve the product, without any obligation or payment to you. If feedback contains personal data, the Privacy Notice applies.

7. AI features

• Contextual meaning explanations, sentence analyses and quiz options are generated by artificial intelligence (Google Gemini). This output may be wrong, incomplete or misleading; it does not replace a teacher, a dictionary or an official source. Verify it before relying on it for important decisions.
• A daily fair-use limit per user applies to the AI features. When the limit is reached, the feature becomes available again the next day.
• Only the word you clicked and the sentence it appears in are sent to the AI; your account details are not sent.

8. Fees

Motsy is currently free and does not ask for payment details. If paid features are added in the future, they will be clearly marked, your existing free use will not be made paid without notice, and the conditions will be presented separately before purchase.

9. Changes to and interruption of the service

We may change, suspend or discontinue features in order to improve Motsy, keep it secure, or comply with legal requirements. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, outages at third-party services, or platform changes. If we discontinue the service entirely, we will notify you at the e-mail address registered to your account at least 30 days in advance and give you time to delete or export your data.

10. Closing the account

• You: You can permanently delete your account at any time with "Delete Account" in the profile menu of the dashboard. Your data and files are deleted at the same time; this cannot be undone.
• We: In case of a breach of these Terms, a security risk or a legal obligation, we may suspend or close your account with prior notice or, in serious cases, immediately. Where possible we will state the reason.

11. Disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability

Motsy is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will produce any particular learning outcome. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages (including loss of data, loss of profit, or problems with your platform accounts). This limitation does not cover liability arising from intent or gross negligence, nor the non-waivable rights of consumers under applicable legislation.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. The courts and enforcement offices of Denizli have jurisdiction over disputes. If you use Motsy as a consumer, your right to apply to the consumer arbitration committee and consumer court of your place of residence is reserved; for consumers resident in the European Union, the mandatory consumer protection provisions of their country of residence are reserved.

13. General provisions and contact

• Changes: When we update the Terms, we change the effective date and version number. Significant changes that narrow your rights are announced inside the extension or by e-mail at least 15 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the new Terms; if you do not accept them, you can delete your account.
• Notices: Notices to you are sent to the e-mail address registered to your account or as an in-extension message. Notices to us: support@motsyapp.com.
• Force majeure: We are not liable for disruptions caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as natural disasters, war, epidemics, large-scale internet outages, or third-party platforms (Netflix, YouTube, cloud providers) ceasing to provide service.
• Assignment: You may not assign your rights and obligations under this agreement. In the event of a transfer of the service or a restructuring of the business, we may assign the agreement by notifying you, with the commitments in the Privacy Notice preserved.
• Severability and waiver: If a provision is held invalid, the other provisions are not affected. Our not exercising a right does not mean we have waived it.
• Entire agreement: These Terms constitute the entire agreement between the parties regarding the service; the Privacy Notice is informational and is read together with the Terms.
